USA JUBILANT AND TAKE THE RYDER CUP 2008
In what has been one of the best Ryder Cup`s America reclaimed the Ryder Cup at Valhalla by securing an overall convincing victory of 16 1/2 to 11 1/2 over the European team after the intense singles matches on Sunday.
Paul Azinger`s team needed just five and a half points from the singles matches and Anthony Kim setting the pace with some great golf beating Sergio Garcia 5 and 4 which set the tone for the day with the European team battling hard but losing out in the end to a pumped out US team.
The cheering parisan home crowds were loud and vocal ensuring the European team felt the intense pressure of playing the Ryder Cup on US soil.
For Nick Faldo`s men it was the middle order that in the end proved the decisive factor between the two teams with the Americans dominating the matches without much reply from the European team.
There were some great performances from the European`s showing great determination with Robert Karlsson and Justin Rose producing more than convincing winning matches over Justin Leonard and Phil Mickelson.
Paul Casey battled hard all day in what was a touch match against Hunter Mahan, which ended ina draw which was a fair result.
Overall, it was a great Ryder Cup and sets up the return battle to the Celtic Manor in 2010.
