Lord Mayor`s Charity Golf Day, 8th September 2009

The Lord Mayors Charity Golf Day which will take place on Tuesday 8th September 2009 at Northenden Golf Club. We are delighted to be involved in such a worthwhile event which is already creating a lot of interest, it will be a day of exciting golf and fun concluding with a fundraising dinner with some great auction prizes. John Kennedy CBE, KSG, KMLO, DL has kindly agreed to be Patron of this special occasion.

The Lord Mayor’s Charity Appeal Trust is a registered charity which through its fundraising seeks to support local voluntary, charitable, community and youth groups based and operating in the city. One of the Trusts most important activities is to provide holidays for families and children, who without such help would never enjoy a break from life on the poverty line. Through such support the Charity seeks to alleviate the effects of poverty within Manchester. Grants are small but deliberately target those small groups and organisations which have no national profile and specialist fundraisers.

The event will attract 30 teams in total and is open to Ladies and Gentlemen, the cost of entry will be £299inc VAT per four man team, inclusive of VAT, prizes on the day to be awarded to the first four finishing teams and the event will also feature prizes for the longest drive, nearest the pin and a beat the pro competition. We have tried to keep the cost of the day to a minimum and with a team price of £299 inc vat we are hoping will encourage companies to become involved, see further information attached along with the golf day booking form.

NEWS – PENHA LONGA HOTEL SPA & GOLF RESORT
RE-OPENING – ATLANTIC COURSE
After a five month extensive refurbishment programme of the Atlantic Course at Penha Longa Hotel Spa & Golf Resort, the hotel are pleased to annouce that as of the 1st April the course will be re-opened.

The work involved comprehensive drainage work, a full irrigation upgrade, bunker renovation with drainage and new sand added. They also over-seeded the fairways, the tees have also been completed on 9 holes of the Atlantic Course, the remaining 9 holes will undergo the same work during the summer months of July and August 2009.

XL AIRWAYS
You will have not escaped the news of the collapse of the XL Leisure Group. Fortunately for those covered under XL’s ATOL licence, people overseas have been repatriated back to the UK at the end of their holidays, whilst those who have booked, but not yet travelled, will have their money refunded. Unfortunately some people didn’t book under the ATOL arrangements and, where their insurance does not cover them, they are left without their holiday or a refund of the money they have lost.

Therefore it’s best for your own financial protection to book your holiday or travel through an ATOL licenced tour operator and you will be pleased to know that Golf Travel Club is protected by the ATOL arrangements when you book your holiday or travel, that includes flights and accommodation. Our ATOL number is 2711. Where you book a non-air inclusive holiday, and we act as the principal, your money is financially protected by our ABTA bonding arrangements. Our tour operating ABTA number is V1479.

DOM PEDRO GOLF RESORT – NOTICE

We have received notification that following the reclassification of Dom Pedro Golf Resort as a five-star Hotel, the hotel will be closed from 5th Jan till the 11th Feb 09, whilst refurbishments take place. Any clients booked in the Dom Pedro Golf Resort will be transferred to its sister hotel Hotel Dom Pedro Marina.

MAINTENANCE WORKS – HILTON VILAMOURA

Maintenance works taking place at the Hilton Vilamoura Cascatas Golf Resort & Spa

Please note that there will be some maintenance works taking place from the 20th Oct 08 for one month in which the refurbishment of the shops in the lobby area of the hotel will take place.

The hotel have restricted access to that particular area to avoid inconveniences to the hotel guests and have assured all guests that the work in progress will not interfere with the delivery of their service.

International Football Team Choose Sports Tours International

Sports Tours International, one of the UK`s leading specialist sports travel companies, has arranged for the Icelandic Women’s National Football Team to train at Browns Leisure and Sport Resort in Portugal as they prepare to participate in the Annual Algarve Cup at the beginning of March, which is a global invitational tournament for national teams in women’s football.
